Dance Photography Kent

Having discovered new parts of the Kent countryside during lockdown, I’ve fallen even more in love with this beautiful county. I recently took professional dancers, Jody Laughton-Zimmerman and Liam Morris out to shoot some dance photography. I also invited Jody’s little sister, Georgie-May (aged 11) to come along – you can see a recent fine art studio photo shoot of Georgie-May HERE. But back to my dance photography Kent….

Thanks to following many of James Pavlou’s walks on https://www.walktonbridge.co.uk/ during the pandemic, we headed out to Golden Green armed with a suitcase (yes, these dancers had a wardrobe of outfits to choose from!) Within minutes of arriving in a wheat field, Liam had thrown Jody up in the air in a Dirt Dancing style lift and we’d got our first stunning shot. And I think was quite possibly my favourite image from the night!

We reached the East lock on the River Medway and stopped for a shot of the 3 dancers.

And then followed the river round for Liam to fling Jody around in the air (honestly the stamina and strength of these dancers was quite incredible!). And Georgie-May also got to have a taste of some pas de deux work too!

We next stopped at my favourite part of this walk which is the large wooden bridge over the river and the dancers performed some solo moves….

And finally as the sun was setting we moved in to another field. In my head and envisioned fields of gold but unfortunately, the fields must have just been harvested!

Hugely in awe of these gorgeous dancers! And feel so sad for all those involved in the arts during this pandemic. Sincerely hope that theatres, shows, cruise ships and other venues can find a way to keep our arts alive.
