A Grown Up Treat!

Posted on 8 Oct, 2020 by Sarah Hart

Our experience of the Fine Dining Chef, Sevenoaks

As is the same for many busy, working parents, it’s rare in our household to make time for a grown up treat. But back in August we were so delighted to win a competition on Instagram in conjunction with Sevenoaks Mums and Fine Dining Chef . Our prize?… A 3 course meal, prepared and delivered by the Fine Dining Chef company. As big foodies, this was the loveliest grown up treat, particularly just after lockdown!

I thought I’d share our Fine Dining Chef experience with you – would seriously recommend this lovely local company! Chef, Carl Williams, raised in Sevenoaks, started his career as an apprentice at the Connaught Hotel and worked there for 5 years whilst the hotel held its 2 Michelin Stars. Following a number of further exciting posts, Carl, decided to set up the Fine Dining Chef, working closer to home to provide exquisite courses to locals in their homes.

After winning the competition (and a massive thank you to Emma Haggart of Kent Virtual Assistant for entering me!) I was contacted by Katie, to select our choices for our 3-course dinner. I had to inform Katie that my husband was Coeliac, but this was no trouble for the Fine Dining Chef staff who assured us they would be able to produce a gluten-free version of whatever choice he selected. If you are a Coeliac yourself, you will know how great this news is, as often when you go for a meal at a restaurant, options for Coeliacs can be rather limited!

We set a date for our meal to be delivered and on the day itself, Katie, sent us a text to let us know she when she would be delivering. She arrived with a smile (under her mask!) and a beautifully presented box of goodies!

Our meal

Our starter: sesame seared tuna loin, wilted asian greens, avocado puree, pickled ginger, radish & wasabi creme fraiche.

So moresish! And a HUGE portion – this was my favourite course and tickled all our taste buds!

Next up, the main course. A few simple instructions for reheating & cooking (which even the most novice of cooks can follow!).

Hubby’s gluten free version was clearly labelled too.

gluten free options available

Main Course: individual Chart Farm Beef Wellington, roasted roots, English asparagus & confit shallot, red wine jus.

Pure comfort food BUT with all the elegance of eating a restaurant quality dish. The main course was delicious!

Our dessert: I had a classic lemon tart, Ightham strawberries with vanilla & strawberry coulis. Hubby received a gluten free, lemon posset.

By this point in the evening, I was so full! But I never refuse pudding…there’s always a small space to squeeze in a dessert and we weren’t disappointed!

And of course there was no clearing up afterwards. This was really such a perfect grown up treat! A massive thank you to the Fine Dining Chef team – we were really impressed with the service and quality of food.

Food for Thought

It’s been a very difficult year for so many businesses! Yet, the Fine Dining Chef is not letting COVID-19 stand in their way! Despite the fact that many of their larger scale events such as weddings have been cancelled or postponed, this company have adapted to suit theses strange times. Their beautiful meals use only the best quality ingredients. And delivered straight to your door, it makes for the most wonderful night in. All their dishes are purposely designed to be finished easily by their customers at home with minimum fuss. And they deliver 7 days a week!

So the next time you’re looking for real grown up treat, consider booking Carl and his team, and support this fabulous local business.

Thank you Fine Dining Chef, for our wonderful night in!
