Why parent photos with your newborn are important

Posted on 7 Sep, 2016 by Sarah Hart

When you arrive for your newborn’s photo shoot here at my studio in Tonbridge, Kent, the last thing you may feel like doing, 10 days after giving birth, is having your own photo taken! But I really do encourage you to have at least one family shot with the 3 (or more, if there are siblings) of you. Why? Because they are literally only this small once. You will never again get to fit them into your arms so neatly. It’s the perfect record of just how small your baby once was.
Even 1-2 weeks later when you view your gallery, clients will often comment on how much their baby has grown in that short time. It is well worth having THAT shot!
Just take a look at some of the recent parent shots with proud mums and dads clearly besotted with their perfect little bundles. And no, I don’t make anyone strip topless for these shots if you prefer to remain clothed!  (but I think you have to agree that the skin to skin shots are just gorgeous).

Baby photography shouldn’t just be all about your baby… make sure you are included in these early photos of your newborn’s life. They will thank you when they’re older and are able to look at you holding and admiring them.
If you are thinking about booking a newborn photography session, the best time to book is during your pregnancy, after your 20 week scan. Get in touch via email – sarah@sarahhartphotography.com or give me a call and we can discuss the type of gallery you are wanting. And if you do decide to book make sure you bring a couple of outfits (yes, you may get pee-ed on, or worse!) but I’ll ensure you get a special parent shot of you with your tiny bundle.
