Tonbridge Maternity Photographer on Shipbourne Common

Relaxed Outdoor Maternity Photography

When Emily was searching for a Tonbridge maternity photographer on Google, she happened upon my website. She said that what drew her to me were the testimonials that spoke of a friendly and relaxed photographer and the images she saw of my outdoor maternity work. Emily explained that she was a little shy of being in front of the camera but knew she wanted to capture this special time with her bump. She was looking for a Tonbridge maternity photographer who could provide a photoshoot outdoors, in a relative quiet spot in order that she and her husband Dan, didn’t feel too self conscious. She had one other request….please could she bring their dog, Milo?! Absolutely, was my answer!

And here is Milo, their gorgeous Dalmatian, soon to be promoted to big brother!

Location and Timing for a maternity photoshoot

We settled on Shipbourne Common as a location because I felt it would be a quieter spot for us to wander without too many eyes upon us. Situated between Tonbridge and Sevenoaks, Shipbourne is a beautiful little village boasting a gorgeous church and a fabulous pub, The Chaser, next door to one another! I often highly recommend The Chaser for a late lunch after clients have visited me for a newborn photoshoot! And St Giles’ church hosts a much loved weekly Farmers Market every Thursday morning. If you’ve never had a stroll round Shipbourne, then pop it on your list of places to visit. The website Walk Tonbridge includes some great little walks that include Shipbourne on some of their routes.

As always with an outdoor maternity session, I recommend that we start the shoot for approximately an hour before sunset. This is purely down the quality of light. Evening light before sunset is at it’s softest and therefore, most flattering for portrait work. When you book me as your Tonbridge maternity photographer, I do always suggest that we pencil in a couple of possible dates for the session. Our British weather is just so unpredictable, even in Summer! The photoshoot had previously had to be rescheduled twice due to poor weather. And we were lucky with the third day we picked. Despite it raining most of the day, the weather brightened up for us to finally meet up for the shoot.

Emily and Dan’s gallery

I was met by an extremely excited Milo who bounded over to me to greet me! After that, we made use of the open spaces and beautiful views across the common. Milo had the opportunity to play and we also managed a few images of him sitting with Emily & Dan. And here’s a selection of their gallery….

It was a very chilled maternity photography session which I enjoyed immensely. Emily and Dan are a very lovely couple and I’m looking forward to meeting their daughter for a baby photoshoot when she’s arrived.

If you are considering a maternity photography session, you can view some more of my work on my Maternity Session page. You may be looking for a studio maternity session or perhaps an outdoor shoot like Emily and Dan’s. Life is going to change so much with the addition of a baby. A maternity photoshoot can document your lives pre-baby as well as of course photographing that all important bump!

Drop me an email with your due date to find out my availability. The best time to book in for a maternity session is when you are between 7-8 months pregnant. Would love to document your bump and growing family!
