Creative newborn sessions
Posted on 18 May, 2018 by Sarah Hart
As a newborn photographer, I aim to produce a variety of images in a gallery for each client that they will want to adorn ALL the walls in their house with. And as the years go by I continue my training and work to achieve higher standards with better posing, angles and lighting. I prefer to keep images fuss free by keeping newborn images simple and avoid using too many props, however recently I’ve been trying to include at least one image that would stand out as a striking piece of wall art in your homes. This is for the client BUT also for me. These images make my work stand out and make for make for more creative newborn sessions. Photography is a creative line of work and quite simply, it’s fun to try out different colours textures and backdrops.
Over the last few months I’ve been experimenting more with digital backdrops: photographing the baby in a basket or simple set up with the lighting and angles in mind to use with a particular digital backdrop. These digital backdrops are more elaborate and time consuming to set up than would be possible in regular newborn sessions and so being pre-photographed, they allow me to add in that extra special piece of art work in to a client’s gallery.
AFTER – I brought down the highlights on baby’s skin to blend with the digital background lighting
One of my aims this year, is to produce a selection of my own digital backdrops to pre-photograph for clients to choose from – a range of soft pastels, neutrals and richer & deeper colours. And I can’t wait to find out which backdrops will prove more popular! Pop your preferences in my comments – I’d love to hear which ones you love best.
