Little Sailor Boy Cake Smash

Themed Cake Smash

I first photographed little Alfie as a newborn AND also at a milestone session when he’d just learnt to sit up. It is amazing to be able to watch my clients grow up through the lens! Alfie’s mum requested a sailor boy cake smash. And I always love creating a themed smash set up.

I set to work making little sailor themed bunting and selected a navy backdrop for the cake smash. I already had the little sailor outfit in my studio. You can view all the boy cake smash outfits that I have stored at my Tonbridge photography studio HERE.

Next, I had a chat with my cake maker, Denise (owner of Cakes Unlimited UK) to see what she could produce for the sailor boy cake smash theme. And of course she didn’t disappoint! Rather than the usual giant cupcake which many of my cake smashers enjoy, we opted for this tall round design. It looked so elegant at the start of the shoot (but did get smashed to bits by the end!).

And all good cake smashes end with a little splash time in the tub afterwards. Alfie particularly enjoyed splashing around – his love of water was evident!
