Kid’s Week 2017- See a top show this summer with your children
Posted on 9 Jun, 2017 by Sarah Hart
You want to take your children to see a big show in London. You turn on your computer and search for tickets to see the latest musical or play.
The price is sky high………BUT……. there is hope. Every year many of the top London shows offer free tickets to children when accompanied by an adult. They call it KID’S WEEK (even though it lasts the whole month of August!)
Tickets go on sale at 10 am on June 13th, so hurry.
So here are a few tips to get the tickets you really want.
1. Checkout the Kids Week website and see what shows are on offer. This year they include Matilda, We’re Gong on a Bear Hunt and Gangsta Granny. Choose a couple of shows you really would like to see.
2. Check your diary and choose a few dates you can go. Write them down in order of choice
3. Create an account with SeeTickets so when you select your seats you can order them easily
4. Be sitting at the computer on the Kids Week site just before 10am on Tuesday.
A little word of warning they don’t offer all that many tickets on each performance. Some very popular shows won’t offer weekend tickets or matinees (afternoon shows)
The Kids Week team also offer deals on restaurants and hotels as well as travel or parking. This is to help you to make the most of your special trip.
Some shows also offer free activities for example:-
-
Mamma Mia – you can have a chance to learn a song and dance routine from the show.
-
What the Ladybird Heard – a sing and play session for younger children, they can even make a ladybird to take home.
If you don’t manage to get tickets for a suitable show just remember there are lots of theatres nearer home all offering kids shows all year round and they are just a bit cheaper too. The Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge wells has several children’s shows booked including The Tiger that came to tea. Whilst Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells has Stick Man coming in September.
Enjoy live theatre, you never know you child may be the next Benedict Cumberbatch or Emma Watson. This could be all it takes to spark their imagination!
I’m hoping to get some tickets this year (have never been successful before) but thanks to these tips above from my friend, Julie Hine (who is definitely in the know about these things!), I’m hoping I may be able to grab a few seats for our family and I thought I’d share her tips with you too. Let me know below in the comments, if you manage to get lucky this year! Good luck!
