Hoppy Celebrations: A Peter Rabbit Cake Smash🐰

Posted on 15 Jul, 2025 by Sarah Hart

Why choose a Peter Rabbit Cake Smash?

If you’re looking for an irresistibly sweet and playful way to celebrate your little one’s milestone, a Peter Rabbit Cake Smash may be right up your street. Perhaps you’ve designed your baby’s nursery with a Peter Rabbit theme or maybe you just adored the Beatrix potter books as a little one yourself. Think soft pastels, whimsical garden props, and a mischievous bunny ready to dive in to the cake!

I created this Peter Rabbit set up for a client who loved Peter rabbit herself. She brought along her baby’s own Peter Rabbit soft toy and a cute blue nappy & bow-tie set for baby Hudson. I then used crates and soft blue bunting on a pale grey backdrop and bought in some fresh vegetables from the local greengrocers in Tonbridge. I discussed with my wonderful cake maker, Denise (CakesUnlimited UK) about her creating a simple round buttercream cake with a blue bunting around the sides and a Peter Rabbit fondant model for the cake top. It all came together beautifully to evoke that timeless Beatrix Potter charm!

Hoppy Celebrations: A Peter Rabbit Cake Smash to Remember 🐰

When shooting a Peter Rabbit Cake Smash, I love to begin with simple portraits… you’ll get some beautiful images of your little one in a smart outfit and they begin to warm up to me and the camera! If we’re lucky, we may capture a few first steps (it has happened several times that I’ve been lucky enough to capture their first steps!) but if they’re still only crawling or bottom shuffling that’s no problem! Family images can be included at this point too.

Once the smash begins, I capture their expressions as they first taste the cake, or they get sticky icing on their fingers/between their toes! And we’ll encourage lots of cake smashing (I’ve a wooden spoon on hand ready for the job if they don’t like the sensation of icing on their fingers!). It’s these candid moments – icing-pulped fingers, delighted giggles, and bottom lip tremors – that make for the cutest images.

Looking back through the images, I want your Peter Rabbit Cake Smash to be more than a photo session—it’s a really fun experience. You’ll treasure the smiles, the messy joy, and snuggles on the floor after your baby’s bath time.

I think Hudson most enjoyed splash time in the bath tub after his cake smash. He was a super enthusiastic splasher!…..

If you’re dreaming of a cake smash that feels both storybook and full of personality, let’s hop to it! A Peter Rabbit Cake Smash session is a celebration of a whimsical childhood, perfectly captured in time —and oh so much fun. Do get in touch if you’d like to book a similar type of photoshoot for your baby’s first birthday.
