Back to School Mini Sessions

Posted on 27 Jul, 2016 by Sarah Hart

It’s the summer holidays! Yay! And as many parents of school age children will already know…..it’s the start of trying to find 6 weeks worth of activities to keep our little ones happy at home (see this awesome blog for ideas of things to do in the Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells area this summer: Things to Do in Kent). BUT do you know what I LOVE about the summer holidays?….. I get to have my children “back”  – they become “mine” again – as much as I’m thankful for my kid’s teachers fabulous efforts at filling their little minds and helping to create unique little people, I also love the fact that I become their main influence for the next 6 weeks. It’s just me and them, and we get to just spend time together. Haha, I make it sound like like it’s idyllic . It isn’t! Like the vast majority of mums, I’m usually tearing my hair out at their constant bickering. But honestly, with my daughter about to start her last year at primary school, I recognise that these childhood days with mum are limited.

Starting school is a BIG deal (for both the child and their mums!) – it can be a huge change for the child and the parents have to adjust to a different routine and accept that their “baby” is growing up.  As with most milestones, that first day of school is always recorded with a few photos. Here are my little people on their first days at school:

Belle & Cohen

And most of us remember our parents buying our school photos each year and always hearing the comment “wow, look how much you’ve changed since last year!” It’s a way to document the baby face you still had aged 4, the false smile-for-the-camera-grin that you always pulled aged 5, the gappy smile aged 6, the adult teeth your face still needed to grow into, the dodgy hair cut you gave yourself and the dreadful red nose after a winter full of colds etc. School photos are documenting your child at that particular age – and they’re wonderful mementos. But with a plain white background, a queue of fidgety children and just seconds to try and capture your child at their best, school photography is never going to offer you beautiful photographs. So here at Sarah Hart Photography, I’m offering School Mini sessions that will not only document your child but also provide you with a small gallery of gorgeous images that you’ll be proud to display. Here are mine proudly displayed……

Stunning folio, ways to display school photos

So if your child is just about to set off on their long path of education and you want to mark the occasion, or if you just fancy a school photo that you’d be proud to have on display, drop me an email to let me know your preferred session and get your little one booked in this September.

Looking forward to meeting you!
