The cake smash sessions offered at Sarah Hart Photography are a unique way to celebrate your baby’s big milestone – their first birthday! We aim to create some stylish, simple portraits of your baby before the cake smash. Then we let them explore their cake! The sessions are totally unpredictable with some babies getting stuck in quite literally, and others being a little more dainty finger dips! These sessions take place at my studio in Tonbridge, Kent, where I’ll have created a set-up and have your cake here ready for your little one. Before the session, I’ll be in touch to discuss your baby’s special first birthday session. There’s a huge number of themes or colours to choose from.
The cake smash session is always split into three mini sessions that in total last approximately an hour:
1) Firstly, we start with some simple portraits in a nice dress/smart outfit of your choice
2) The cake-smash part is next – you can bring your own cake or order one through myself, made by the very talented Denise from Cakes Unlimited Uk. There’s a choice of outfits in various colours and styles to choose from.
3) Lastly, I offer a “splash time” in the bath tub for your little ones to have a few photos taken in a warm bubble bath (this ensures that they go home clean too!)
Therefore, you’ll receive a gallery of images containing simple portraits, cake smashing fun as well as tub time in the bath!
Before the cake smash session
Once you’ve booked a photo session, we make plans for what you’d like your baby to wear. I have a huge selection of outfits (though you’re welcome to bring along your own choice of outfit). You can visit GIRLS OUTFITS and BOYS OUTFITS to see the catalogues of outfits I have stored at the photography studio.
There may be a themed cake smash session that you have in mind or possibly just a colour scheme that you love. With the outfit and set-up theme picked out, I can then suggest a cake to match. In the main, a large cupcake will work perfectly. However, we can discuss an alternative that would work with a themed smash. Cost of a Cake Smash
My cake smash sessions cost £90 which includes a cake from a wonderful local cake maker Cakes Unlimited UK. However, should you wish to bring your own cake, the session fee reduces to £60.
The session fee also includes use of any of my props, backdrops and beautiful cake smash outfits. However, you can also bring your own clothes too and decide at the session what you want your little one to wear. The only props that I don’t supply are balloons – if you would like these included in the set-up, I just ask that you provide these yourself.
Digital images are not included in the session fee. After your session, your images will be edited and you will be sent a link to view the gallery online. You then have the option to purchase one of three different digital image packages:

Full pricing is available on request or enquiry of a session and includes further pricing for wall art and pints. The session fee is required to secure a booking – but no further payment for the digital image packages is required until after you have viewed your gallery.
