Personalising a Newborn Photoshoot – Kent Newborn Photographer

Posted on 5 May, 2017 by Sarah Hart

What makes a newborn session really special is when clients bring an item or two to ensure we are personalising a newborn photoshoot. Of course, here at my studio in Tonbridge, Kent, I have a range of blankets, wraps, props and backdrops to ensure your session can be tailored to your preferences. However, by bringing in a special item to be used at your baby’s photography session, you are helping to create a totally unique image.

Items clients have brought to a session

Elizabeth’s parents came to me last year and mum arrived holding a small bunch of lavender. She explained that it held a special meaning to them as it had been part of her bridal bouquet when they’d got married.

In Joanna’s newborn photography session, mummy and daddy each had a request. Mum had brought her beautiful charm bracelet which for obvious reasons held special value and wanted a shot incorporating her bracelet with Joanna.

Whilst Dad had a most unusual request….Could I include a photo of Joanna with his shoe?! I must admit, I’ve never been asked that one before! But Dad was keen to capture his tiny daughter against his large size 13.5 shoe. What a great way to record how small she was as a newborn.

Henry’s dad was particularly keen on rugby and his parents, when looking for a newborn photographer,  had seen a specific image from my website with a newborn baby and a rugby ball. So you can guess what they brought with them to their newborn session?! Mum later told me it was this particular shot that had made them choose me as their newborn photographer! So,  eeek, no pressure then in me capturing this image for them!

Finally, this shot below of Freya was taken using mum’s own blanket from when she was a baby. It felt really special to capture an image of Freya on the blanket her own mum had lain on.
