Cake smash dilemmas – does her bum look big in this?

Themes, Colours and Outfits for a Cake Smash

So you’ve booked a cake smash for your child and what are you concerned about?….Will their bum look big in the outfit?!!!

Okay, so no…..that’s probably not your concern but it does seem that the outfit is the main worry of booking a cake smash session! In the past few days I’ve had a flurry of enquiries about Cake Smash Sessions and one of the main questions from potential clients, was “What does my child wear for the cake smash?”

And the answer is:  you can choose from my large selection of outfits……or you can bring something that you may already have in mind and I will adapt the backdrop and decorations to suit. In all honesty, the cake smash colours and themes can be whatever you would like. If you hate pink, we’ll stay clear of it. If you can’t stand fussy, I’ll keep the set up simple. And if you love the idea of a theme, I’ll work with you to help create something special. My latest cake smasher had a very clever mum, who not only made the cake, but also made her daughter’s outfit – a gorgeous tutu skirt in purples and pinks. My gorgeous niece, Daisy, came for her cake smash back in March and her mummy didn’t want anything frilly (which definitely ruled out my selection of tutu dresses) so we worked with a pastel theme and Daisy wore some floral dungarees. She looked cute as a button!

A few months ago Charlie’s mum booked a cake smash with a very clear description of what she wanted  for his 1st birthday cake smash session. She sent me a photo of the party ware she’d ordered for his birthday party……

Charlie’s mum is a cake maker and so she created Charlie’s cake for the session and we discussed backdrops that would work for his cake smash. His Cheeky Monkey theme was a big hit with Charlie (as was the cake!)

Often for the little girls, I’m asked whether I can do something “girly & pretty” – I have such a huge range of tutu skirts and dresses for you to choose from – so YES I can definitely do girly and pretty!

So any more questions?

How can I match the cake to the colours/them of the cake smash? You are welcome to make your own cake/buy from a supermarket but I use a very talented cake maker – Denise Lewis from Cakes Unlimited UK in Tonbridge who is fabulous at colour matching and producing cakes that look absolutely stunning in your images.

Will the outfits get covered in cake? Yes……it’s very likely but totally expected – I’m brilliant at washing 🙂

And finally, will their bum look big in that?  Possibly?!!! But who cares….babies are at their most scrummy when we see some baby rolls and a cute squidgy bum!
